Prayer for the Holy Church (to St. Francis)

Saint Francis, mighty intercessor at the side of Jesus Crucified in His greatest mercy. We ask for your help in our great need. God’s wonderful creation, the world, indeed all humanity and the holy Church are in the gravest distress.

Saint Francis, firm pillar of the Catholic Church, once before you supported the crumbling walls of the Church, and again she is threatened on all sides. Obtain for us unity in the faith, so that all who stand outside the Church of Jesus Christ may find their refuge in the arms of Jesus. May they recognize the way home that leads them to fidelity to the Magisterium, anchored in the rock foundation of the papacy, and to a share in the merits of Jesus Crucified with the riches of all His treasures of grace.

Saint Francis, image of the Passion of Jesus, marked with His wounds, stand by our bishops and priests, that they may fight as protectors and defenders of our faith, oppose error and come to resemble you. Amen.
