Let us go to St. Joseph!
Let us go to St. Joseph!
St. Joseph is So Eager to Help
Countless people whom St. Joseph has already helped in the most varied needs find their own sentiments expressed by St. Louis Marie Grignion de Montfort when he invites us: Go to Joseph!, for:
He is the steward of Divine Providence;
he will take care of your temporal needs and make them succeed.He is the head of the Holy Family,
and therefore also the leader of the whole Christian family of the Church;
he will show you your vocation and let you attain a happy state of life.He is a model of the hidden interior life;
he will guide and instruct you in the spiritual life and in perfection.He is the protector of the purity of the Immaculate Virgin Mary;
he will help you to preserve the great treasure of purity.He is the patron of a happy death;
he will stand by you also in that anxious hour and obtain for you a blessed end.He is the foster father of Jesus and the spouse of Mary
and in this capacity he can obtain all graces for you;
for it is not to be supposed,
says St. Bernardine of Siena, that Jesus and Mary in heaven can refuse anything to that St. Joseph to whom they were both obedient on earth.
(From Das Goldene Buch, p. 485)
St. Joseph Protects the Church
Loving Saint Joseph, mighty protector of the holy Church, behold the great tribulation of the Bride of Jesus Christ and the terrible distress of so many souls.
O come to their aid with Jesus and Mary, the holy angels and saints. Confound the plans of the wicked and enkindle the hearts of the faithful with the fire of the Holy Spirit, so that they may confess Jesus freely and openly, fight for the causes of the Kingdom of God, and triumph. Amen.
“Child, tell everyone that they should venerate and invoke my spouse Joseph more. He was indeed our protector and cared so fatherly for my Jesus and for me. He is the special protector of the holy Church.”
(The Mother of God to Mother Vogl – March 6, 1938)
“He is the special protector of priests ... as he protected Me from the enemies, so too priests are protected by him. I refuse him no request. He is invoked far too little for priests.”
(Jesus to Mother Vogl – June 4, 1938)
“Oh, if only all priests would properly venerate my spouse Joseph! He is especially the protector of chastity. Since temptations now approach priests more than before, they will obtain this great grace from him. One should also invoke my spouse for holy priests.”
(The Mother of God to Mother Vogl – on Priests’ Saturday 1943)
St. Joseph Watches Over Our Families
O holy Joseph, as head of the Holy Family you gave us such a glorious example. We thank you for it and, with the holy Church, we honor you as the support of families.
Look graciously upon Christian families, which we commend to your special care.
Let them be a stronghold of faith and piety, a home of harmony, peace and love. Help them to become ever more like the Holy Family, for which you cared so lovingly.
Holy Joseph, pray for us and protect our families. Amen.
“Child, ask My dear foster father most earnestly for holy families, so that holy priests may again come forth from them.”
(Jesus to Mother Vogl – March 29, 1930)
“My nurturing and foster father has the greatest joy when he may present a request to Me. No one will invoke his help in vain. If the person concerned does not receive what he asks for, he will obtain a much greater grace through his intercession.”
(Jesus to Mother Vogl – March 7, 1938)
St. Joseph Guides to the Right Vocation
Great Saint Joseph, obtain for me the grace to recognize to what state of life Divine Providence has called me.
Do not let me be deceived in this decision of such great importance, on which my happiness and perhaps my eternal salvation depend. Help me, enlightened about the Divine Will, to follow it faithfully and to walk the path that the Lord has appointed for me, which is to lead me to eternal happiness. Amen.
The wound of the increasing decay of religious and moral values makes it hard for many young people to reach a clear life decision directed toward the will of God.
St. Joseph helps us to recognize the state of life determined by God and to follow it faithfully. To this courageous and resolute Yes to the grace of vocation God links the salvation of many souls.
St. Joseph is also a powerful intercessor for married couples and religious communities with worries about new vocations.
In the year 1833 a young religious, distinguished for talent and virtue, lay dying in the Jesuit college at Sion in Switzerland. His name was Josef Harnisch. When the rector of the college administered the last sacraments to him, his grief was great. For shortly before he had lost two other members of his religious community through death. The superior therefore, by virtue of his paternal authority, charged the dying man to ask his patron, St. Joseph, as soon as he had entered into eternal bliss, to bring a capable “replacement” for him to the order. The dying man promised it. He died on July 6. As early as the autumn of that same year twelve novices entered the order. Eight of them were named Joseph, and three others named Joseph followed in the course of a year. (Stimmen aus Maria Laach, Vol. 25, p. 509)
Devotion to St. Joseph
Dear Saint Joseph, I wish to consecrate myself to you. Kindly accept my dedication! I give myself to you completely.
You shall be my father, my protector, my guide on the way of salvation at all times.
Obtain for me great purity of heart and a strong inclination to the interior life!
Grant that, as in your own life, all my actions may aim at the greater glory of God, and that I may remain united with the Divine Heart of Jesus, with the Immaculate Heart of Mary and with you, holy Joseph!
Finally, pray for me that I too may one day taste the peace and joy that you were allowed to enjoy at your blessed passing. Amen.

The Rosary of St. Joseph
The following mysteries are prayed on the ordinary Rosary:
Jesus, who chose St. Joseph to be the spouse of the most pure Virgin Mary.
Jesus, who loved St. Joseph as a foster father.
Jesus, who was obedient to St. Joseph.
Jesus, who prayed and worked with St. Joseph.
Jesus, who gave us St. Joseph as patron saint of the Church.
St. Joseph Accompanies the Dying
St. Joseph, foster father of Jesus Christ and true spouse of the Blessed Virgin Mary, pray for us and for the dying of this day/this night!
(Indulgenced prayer)
This prayer is said morning and evening by the members of the Confraternity of St. Joseph, which is spread throughout the world.

St. Thérèse of the Child Jesus once said:
Jesus wants the salvation of souls to depend on our sacrifices and our love.
And shortly before her death she said:
How I understand now that much prayer must be offered for the dying.
Through our prayer and sacrifice we may help to obtain the grace of a good death for the more than 500,000 people who die every day. Especially for those who have separated themselves from God by grave guilt, for all unbelievers and all the unbaptized who are not in the state of sanctifying grace, God’s mercy can thereby often still be granted at the last minute.
This sublime form of charity, with which we come to the aid of our brothers and sisters in the greatest “danger of life” (it is a matter of eternal life!), will become an overflowing blessing for ourselves.
Jesus, Mary and Joseph,
I give you my heart and my soul!
Jesus, Mary and Joseph,
assist me in my last agony!
Jesus, Mary and Joseph,
may I breathe forth my soul in peace with you!
Amen.
